More Dining Options...

Love this chair.

Bamboo.

It's architecturally interesting.
It's timeless.

Wouldn't it be fun to find a set of these bad boys at a thrift store,
slap some high gloss paint on them and call it a day:
shiny white, canary yellow, midnight black or even a metal sheen?

Paired with slip covered armchairs right in the kitchen

Light and airy with that incredible acrylic side table (see it?)

Saarinen Tulip Table

Jonathan Adler in Liz Lange's house
Mattersofstyleblog.com

Another iconic piece of furniture.
You will love it, or hate it. I'm loving it.

This is a table that can be any flavor your want: playful in a teen room,
funky in a kitchen
or a splash of modern as a side.

If you can recall in Simplybrookes' previous post, Unique Light Fixtures,
you will see another view of this iconic Saarinen Tulip Table.

Ruffles, Belts and Cardigans

After perusing websites for spring looks,
I found the mother load on the J Crew website.

My favorite looks undoubtedly included ruffles, belts or cardigans.

Take a look at what I found...

I'm in love with the skinny belt.

Believe it or not...this is a pullover!

Both of these are my fav...comfy cotton!

Getting Current with Technology...the Before and After Story

THE BEFORE:

Our family room...
Notice the TV sitting atop my garden urn.
You might not be able to tell, but that's my metal urn, that belongs outside.

Yes, this is our "make-do" TV stand for our super duper 20 inch TV.

We gathered around this TV, in all it's glory,
for the past 3 months watching our favorite TV shows.
We knew it was time to get current.

This is our dutiful dog looking on...
he is such a good dog.
He knows he is not allowed on the carpet downstairs
after one small "incident" we shall not mention.

ANOTHER BEFORE:

This is our empty armoire waiting to house a fancy shmancy flat screen TV.
It is lonely.

This is my darling husband trying to put together the mass of
wires, stands and hook ups.
Oh, and our basement is FREEZING,
so you can see he bundled up for the task, beanie and all.

AFTER:
Yeah! Now our "guest wing" actually has current technology!

Now that we actually own a flat screen, it is true.
You can really see the clarity.

Am I sounding like a commercial, now?

ANOTHER AFTER:
The final product
(although we are still trying to figure out what to do with the hanging cords)

What is Your Architectural Style?

Modern

1990's Post Modern

60's Modern

Craftsman Bungalow

Mid-Century

Cape Cod

Dutch Colonial

When I was a kid I initially started out wanting to be an architect.

Is that why I love to check out houses? Exteriors, interiors, it doesn't matter.

My style has changed over the years, probably much like my clothing.

I guess that is something that may evolve over time, right?

Just a few architectural "flavors", if you will.

Which do you prefer?

Guess which is my fav. I dare ya...

Everyday...my unspoken list

We all have our routine.
We do things daily...without fail.

We don't even think about these things...we just do them.

Here is a LIST of things
I find myself doing day in and day out:

...I thank God for my life

...I tell my husband I love him

...I squeeze my children with all my might

...I drink a cup of coffee in the morning

...I make sure I shower

...I smoosh my dog while he is trying to rest

...I talk to my sister-in-law in Seattle
(*multiple times a day, actually)

...I check my Facebook page

...I visit the dishwasher

...I listen to music

...I read a handwritten letter from my husband waiting for me each morning

...I waste valuable time on the computer

...I make my bed and stack my pillows...all 6 of them

...I call my sweet mom

...I check my bank balances

... I think of my friends and family back home in SD

...I take a nap

...I read my book before my nap

...I say my prayers after I shut off the light

...I brush, floss and swish

...I check my agenda, then I check it again

...I wipe and rewipe all counter tops in the kitchen

...I check my email

...I read the newspaper

...I go for a run

...I watch Access Hollywood on my DVR with my three daughters

...I add a new tidbit to this blog

...I divvy out chores to the minors living in my home

...I shuffle my to-do list

...I thank God for the life he gave me and the people in it.

What is your luxury item?

Let's play a game...

Suppose you just got a lump sum inheritance of $5000 from your old Aunt Gertrude.

The only criteria in which she has requested you spend the money
is that you MUST spend all the money on YOURSELF!

That's right...
no paying bills (imagine there are none),
no putting it in savings, (imagine it is where you want it to be),
no spending in on family or friends (imagine they got the same lump sum).

What luxury item(s) would you buy for yourself

I know...it can be hard...but I know you can do it.

Here are some ideas I came up with:

Room re-do?

Timeless Diamond Studs?

Wedding ring upgrade?

Designer footwear?

Iconic Handbag?

Yes, feel free to leave your comments.
Add something of your own if I have overlooked it.

Go on...what is the one item or items you've always dreamed of owning
but would never buy yourself?

I can't wait to hear...
